Amy and Sylvia were able to meet with "porn-free newsagent" Hamdy Shahein during their recent trip to London. Hamdy is well known for being involved in a long-running battle against W.H. Smith who repeatedly sent him pornography that he did not want to sell.
Hamdy has defended his personal choice to stock only the titles he chooses, and was able to lead 500 other newsagents to join his porn-free network. He is living proof that you can make a living as an independent newsagent without selling top-shelf material. The only evidence of pornography to be found in his shop is a small collection of FHM magazines, on the highest shelf above your head, and in a paper bag so only the title can be seen. How refreshing.
