"I think the discussions that campaigns like this one elicit are vital. We are living in an era saturated by more images than any other time in modern history. This is not about censorship but rather it's about ensuring that we minimize children's exposure to material that they are not emotionally or cognitively ready to deal with."

Sir Menzies Campbell MP
Liberal Democrat
"I welcome the focus of this campaign which is now specifically directed towards the question of children. I am by nature opposed to censorship, but the easy access to adult material for children is something which I most certainly do not support, and believe it to be the mark of a civilised society that steps are taken to deal with it."

"The average age a child is exposed to pornography is 11. I was 3 years old the first time I was exposed to porn. Even though I was too young to understand what I was seeing, the images where burned into my memory and played a signifiant role in my early sexualization. As an ex-sex industry worker who now spends my time running Treasures, an outreach and support group to women in the sex industry, I see the damage caused by early sexualization every day in the lives of the women we serve. Whether you are pro-porn, anti-porn, or somewhere in between, one thing is for certain, porn is not for kids. As adults, it is our job to protect children from sexually graphic material that can have a potentially harmful impact on their psychological development."

Retired Conservative MP
"I think you are quite right to point out that it is inappropriate to put 'adult material' in areas visible to children. I am pleased to read the results of your poll as it clearly demonstrates the public back your stance."

Barry Sheerman MP
Labour Party
"I strongly believe that children are not emotionally equipped to deal with displays of sexually graphic images and that such material should not be accessible to children and young people. Parents should be given the opportunity to teach their children in accordance to their own moral judgement; this is an opportunity which is not available due to the lack of guidelines for retailers in relation to the display of sexually graphic material."
Gary Streeter MP
Conservative
"No one should ever under-estimate the power of mums, mums on the march! I agree that our young people are exposed to far too much explicit and semi-explicit material at far too tender an age and more needs to be done to keep these kinds of publications out of eyesight of young people in our newsagents. I applaud this campaign and wish it well."
